Why we now offer solar control glass
The UK passed 40°C for the first time in July 2022. The Met Office says there’s now a 50-50 chance it happens again within 12 years, and researchers estimate more than 2,700 people died from heat-related causes during the heatwaves in May and June this year. In 2024, the West Midlands had the highest heat death rate of any region in England.
Most local homes were built to hold warmth. That’s ideal in February and a real problem in July, because ordinary double glazing lets the sun’s heat straight in and traps it. Think of it as a routine rather than one trick.
