The price of a composite front door is set by the choices you make on it, not by a list price, because a front door is the one you specify most carefully. Glazing, colour, side panels and security spec all move the figure. Here’s what a front door quote is made of.
What drives the cost of a front door specifically
- Glazing. Front doors carry more glass than back doors, and glass is where the price varies most. Obscure glass in a single aperture is the baseline. Decorative designs, leaded or bevelled glass, larger glazed areas and triple glazing all add cost.
- Colour. Front doors are where people choose the bold colours. Standard shades are the starting point; premium and bespoke colours, and dual-colour doors with a different finish inside, cost more.
- Side panels and top lights. Many front openings are wider than a single door. Glazed side panels or a top light match the door design and add both material and glass to the price.
- Security specification. All our composite doors are built to the Secured by Design standard. Upgrades on the cylinder grade, hinge bolts and smart locking are optional extras.
- Hardware and finishing. Handle style and finish, letterplate, knocker, spyhole, and whether the hardware is colour-matched or contrasting.
- Core type and design. Solid timber core is usually priced above foam core. Cottage and multi-panel designs sit above plain panels.
- The opening. Removing an old timber or uPVC frame, making good, and any adjustments to the brickwork or threshold are part of the fitting price.
