There isn’t one price for a composite door, because two doors that look identical from the pavement can be built to very different specifications. What we can do is show you exactly what moves the price, so a quote makes sense when you get one.
What decides the price of a composite door
- Style and design. A plain panel door costs less than a design with multiple glazed apertures, arched glass or a cottage-style layout with more moulding detail.
- The core. Foam-core and solid-timber-core doors are priced differently. Solid core is generally the premium option.
- Colour and finish. Standard colours are the baseline. Premium colours, bespoke RAL colours and dual-colour doors (one colour outside, a different one inside) add to it. Woodgrain versus smooth can also change the price.
- Glazing. Plain obscure glass is the entry point. Decorative, leaded, bevelled or coloured designs cost more, as does upgrading to triple glazing.
- Size and configuration. A standard single door in a standard opening is the simplest job. Side panels, top lights, a wider-than-standard slab or a pair of doors all add material and labour.
- Hardware. Handle style and finish, letterplate, knocker, hinges, security cylinder grade and smart locks are all choices with a cost attached.
- Threshold. A standard threshold or a low threshold for level access.
- Fitting. Removing the old door and frame, disposing of it, making good the plaster and brickwork, and any complications with the opening. Supply-only and supply-and-fit are priced separately.
